My first time in Malaysia: Kuala Lumpur

Writer: Nicolina EsanNicolina Esan

A few weeks ago I decided to go on a 4-day trip to Malaysia with some exchange students from NTU. I must admit that I never really was interested about travelling to this country and didn't know much about it except that it's near Singapore so I kind of went there simply because it is easy and cheap to get there. What was supposed to be a random trip turned out to be an awesome experience that left me very very impressed and speechless.

Here I am posting pictures and videos from Kuala Lumpur only and in a subsequent post you'll see more about the rest of the trip spent in Cameron Highlands.

So our first destination was the Batu Caves, which was recently painted in rainbow-like colors and has the giant golden paint statue outside the caves. We got to see many monkeys, religious temples (I think it's temples but maybe it's a different thing...), the world's tallest statue of Murugan painted in gold, plenty of colourful stairs and caves!

This is the entrance (gate) to Batu Caves.

You have to remove your shoes in order to step into these temples. So you can imagine how often we had to take our shoes off and then put them on. Funny enough, my biggest concern was not to get my shoes stolen by a monkey :D

And that's the big classic picture of me at Batu Caves! You can see all of those endless colourful stairs behind me that lead to the actual caves and to my right is another temple.

I caught on camera a monkey in the temple :D

That was me before climbing up to the caves.

And that's when we arrived at the top. I didn't take a selfie there unfortunately (or maybe fortunately).

This was the entrance to a different cave.

Inside the caves.

Here are some weird fish and monkeys beside the temples:

After visiting the Batu Caves we went to the city and visited the historical square that had such beautiful buildings! It felt like being in a different world!

The River of Life. You can hear some live prayers in the background.

Just a random bus stop

On our way to get lunch.

We had lunch in an Indian vegetarian restaurant. Their Mango Lassi was delicious!

After Dinner we went Downtown to see the Petronas Twin Towers, that were the highest buildings in the world in 1998-2004 and now they only remain the highest "twin-buildings" in the world as the new record for individual highest building is in Dubai (Burj Khalifa).

1.7 m vs 451.9 m

These are the girls who I went to Malaysia with and this is a failed attempt of me trying to jump in front of the twin towers :D

For the last part, I have a few pictures from the street markets and a monkey eating mucho banana.
